Super Bowl Sunday

Confession Time: I used to guilt people into attending church on the night of the Super Bowl because they obviously didn’t love Jesus as much as I did.

Legalism is a strange bird. It breeds judgmental, arrogant attitudes. It’s baptized in fear and control and pushed as gospel. It brings people to attendance and guilt instead of to repentance and relationship.

We claim we’re free in Christ until someone interprets the Bible in another way, votes differently, or makes religious waves. And then we learn freedom isn’t what we thought.

But Jesus. He calls us to something better. Something beautiful and genuine.

I don’t care if people love football on a Sunday night. I care if they love Jesus every day.
