Opinion Pieces

Opinion pieces, also known as op-eds (opinion editorials), are articles written where you express your viewpoint or opinion on your thoughts, insights, and arguments about current events, social issues, politics, or any subject of public interest with a Christian worldview.

Here are some key features of opinion pieces:

  • Personal perspective: Opinion piece articles reflect the subjective viewpoint of the author. They allow individuals to express their opinions, beliefs, and experiences related to a specific topic.

  • Argumentative nature: Opinion pieces are often persuasive in nature, aiming to convince readers of the validity or importance of the author's viewpoint. The author presents their arguments, supporting evidence, and reasoning to build a case for their opinion.

  • Editorial style: Opinion pieces are usually written in a more conversational or editorial style, as opposed to a purely objective or neutral tone. The author may incorporate personal anecdotes, emotional appeals, rhetorical devices, or a distinct voice to convey their perspective effectively.

  • Freedom of expression: Opinion pieces allow individuals to exercise their freedom of expression, sharing ideas that may be controversial, challenging prevailing beliefs, or offering alternative viewpoints. They contribute to diverse opinions and foster public discourse on important issues. Due to the nature of op-eds, they must be written in love.

  • Author credentials: Op-ed articles should be written by experts, scholars, or individuals with relevant experience or expertise in the subject matter.

  • Word Count: 750-1000 words

  • Citations: Any citations made should be in SBL (Society of Biblical Literature) format.

  • Headings: Headings should be included to organize thoughts throughout the article.
